Developing and Coaching Others enables your team leaders to direct their team toward a shared goal and to achieve the organization’s strategic objectives. Without motivation, support, and coaching from managers, employees have a difficult time developing their talents on their own.

Research shows that the support and effective involvement of managers is the single most important factor in determining whether what an employee learns in a classroom transfers into behavior change on-the-job.

This program establishes a methodology for productive interactions by focusing on the basics–the skills required to manage ways that change behavior, and impact on performance of their team members by coaching and supporting learners effectively before, during, and after learning experiences.

Team leaders will learn how to maintain and enhance the self-esteem of their team members while including them in decisions and basing discussions on behavior, and not on attitude.

Objectives

Developing and Coaching Others for team leaders was developed to meet two objectives.

First to provide the team leader with skills and strategies to guide their people through a learning process, with specific tactics to help them “before,” “during,” and “after” training to ensure that behavior change is achieved.

Secondly to provide the team leader with a “coaching moments” model to help their teams gain understanding and insight about their actions in a way that supports self-awareness with opportunities to learn and improve.

With Developing and Coaching Others participants will learn to:

  • Increase the skill and capability of every member of their team.
  • Effectively handle coaching moments so that individuals make learning decisions themselves.
  • Maximize the on-the-job behavior change that results from a training and development intervention.
  • Develop a work environment of growth and development.

Participant Workbook

This workbook serves as a companion to the online program. Though not required, the workbook provides the learner with more information, learning exercises, forms, skill practice aids and Resource Materials. The workbook was designed for use with the classroom version of this course and does not correspond directly to the online course. It is, however, a valuable resource for practicing the skills and for reinforcement. It is highly recommended.
